Carnauba wax has been used to protect car finishes for decades. There are some very good reasons people will spend a Saturday afternoon washing, drying and rubbing in this special wax all over their car.
This particular wax is an extremely hard finish when it is set. It isn’t just sold for cars. Carnauba wax is a common ingredient in candies and other food items, because it gives a beautiful, glossy finish on treats, making them more attractive. It is the same for your car, but for a little different reason.
When carnauba wax arrived on the car scene, it quickly became the preferred paint sealant. And the funny thing is, it doesn’t last as long as a chemical sealant and it is certainly a lot more trouble to put it on. So, why is there a love affair with the stuff?
This wax is derived from the leaves of a Brazilian palm tree. It is tough enough to protect the leaves and tough enough to protect your vehicle’s paint. But it is loved for an entirely different reason. It is the way it looks on your car. This wax is a clear coating and when buffed out it brings out the richness of the paint. Paint is just paint, until the moment the carnauba wax brings its depth and richness alive.
If you have ever waxed a fine piece of furniture before, you know that richness a good wax will bring. There is just nothing else that makes that dresser or table a treasure like a buffed out coat of wax. With your car, it is the carnauba wax that will make any good paint job a magical experience to behold. So, the next time you’re shopping for a good sealant, find the wax that contains carnauba.
